66. BINNACLE
(Falcón-Morano, Emiliano)
978-1- 951370- 39-8
“Emiliano Falcón - Morano’s poetry descends into darkness in search of light, echoing Shelley’s belief that the poet must be a nightingale singing in the shadows. Rich in striking imagery, this collection reveals a wound we can recognize and share. Rooted in a powerful literary tradition yet fully attuned to modern sensibilities, Falcón-Morano crafts verses capable of confronting and transforming pain.”

YOUR TURN
Your lavender skin
bristles, lit by the heresy
that pumps bliss but brings bigotry.
It tastes like
honey despite the bitter
gall, despite cursing your mind.
Roused by
neglected desires,
your quivering thighs flare up.
Shame fades away;
the time has come for you
to revel and relish your prime.
You shine like a
breaking dawn despite the sick
sinful lore. You face your worst fears
and then
you find the
Marquis’s blue eyes.
